FALLOUT 4 IS OUT!!!!!! – A tribute to the amazing game series

FalloutFor those of you who never heard of Fallout, here is a quick recap, because you are missing out on a lot. And by that I mean A LOT.

The Fallout series is a post-apocalyptic survival game first released on September 30, 1997 by Interplay Entertainment, eventually acquired by Bethesda Softworks, the studio which has been developing the series since Fallout 3.

In the Fallout universe, the transistor was never invented, hence instead of the direction our world took with microcomputers and all that jazz, their path lead them towards nuclear technology, big, bulky vacuum tube computers and the exploitation of fossil fuels, which, incidentally is the cause of the great war where everyone nuked everyone (hence the name Fallout) leaving the world as a barren wasteland (hence the name of the location; the wasteland).

vault tecTo protect from the Fallout, the United States government and Vault-Tec Corporation built giant underground bunkers called Vaults that would supposedly ensure the survival of the American people. You, in the games are one of these Vault dwellers, who leaves their Vault and explores the wasteland.

Now I cannot make a post about the Fallout universe without including the Top10Memes video about the series. This should be enough to spike your interest. :)

The game series is a fond memory of my late childhood/early teens, although at the time, in the lack of English skills I did not understand much of the actual story, I still enjoyed the first two games. The last game I played was Fallout 3, and because of time constraints in my life, I simply could not afford spending hours on end on a game, even if said game is as intriguing as this.

However, I still follow the series to date, and, incidentally, I also ended up playing FalloutShelter. My Vault now has all available rooms unlocked, has a nuclear reactor and a Nuca-Cola bottler, and so far nobody is dead, so I’d say it’s going pretty well.

If you don’t yet play the game and/or it makes your phone crash, download bluestacks as I did and play on your PC! If you are new, feel free to share your thoughts and experiences with the game in the comments below or on the Facebook page.

Seeing as FalloutShelter is a sort of “appetizer” to Fallout 4, on this day of release, I challenge you to a fight of Vaults!

Those of you who play FalloutShelter, take a screenshot of your progress and post it in the comments on Facebook with a short description of what you got, or send it to me in an e-mail to the site contact e-mail.

Let’s see who has the best Vault 😉
